“True Friendships” The Key to Success of “The Chew,” Says Carla Hall

ABC – Ida Mae AstuteABC’s cooking/chat show The Chew launched its sixth season on Tuesday.

The show brought together celebrity chefs Mario Battali, Carla Hall, Michael Symon, Daphne Oz, and co-host Clinton Kelly for cooking and conversation — a balancing act that is harder than it looks, Hall told ABC News. “If someone makes cooking, talking, and interviewing and being excited look easy, then they’re really doing a good job. I don’t think people realize what a three ring circus that is internally…It really took me four seasons to get it,” she joked.

The Top Chef finalist and restaurateur tells us the relationship between the co-hosts is The Chew‘s key ingredient.

“When people ask us what is the secret to the success of our show, I really think it’s the true and authentic friendships,” Hall said backstage Tuesday. “…We’re really interested in what each other is doing, and we’re really interested in the food that the other is doing, and learning from them.”

The Chew airs at 1 p.m. Eastern on ABC.
