“Game of Thrones” Season Seven Begins Production

HBO(IRELAND) — Bless the old gods and the new! The seventh season of Game of Thrones is officially in production, sources confirm to Entertainment Weekly.

According to EW, filming began this past Monday in Northern Ireland. Other shooting locations for season seven will include Iceland and Spain.

Season seven will be the penultimate Game of Thrones season, and will consist of just seven episodes, as opposed to the usual 10.

Following last season’s literally explosive finale, all surviving characters are expected to return. Additionally, Oscar-winner actor Jim Broadbent will join the cast in a reported “significant” role.

Game of Thrones season seven will premiere in the summer of 2017.
