“Ben-Hur,” “War Dogs,” “Kubo and the Two Strings” Open Today

* Ben-Hur — The Oscar-winning 1959 classic is remade, with Jack Huston attempting to fill Charlton Heston’s shoes in the titular role. Judah Ben-Hur is a prince falsely accused of treason and forced into slavery. He later returns to his homeland to seek revenge. Toby Kebbell, Rodrigo Santoro, Nazanin Boniadi, Ayelet Zurer, Sofia Black D’Elia and Morgan Freeman also star. Rated PG-13.

* War Dogs — Two men in their 20s work together on a business to bid on U.S. military contracts, and end up in over their heads.  Jonah Hill, Miles Teller and Bradley Cooper star in the comedic drama, which is based on a true story and was helmed by Cooper’s Hangover director, Todd Phillips. Rated R.

* Kubo and the Two Strings — In the animated film, a young boy in Japan, Kubo, goes on a quest with Monkey and Beetle after he accidentally summons a spirit from his past. Charlize Theron, Art Parkinson, Ralph Fiennes, George Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Vaccaro, Rooney Mara and Matthew McConaughey lend their voices to the film. Rated PG.
