Paul Rudd Drops Tiny Update About “Ant-Man and The Wasp” and Giant Praise to Brie Larson

Mike Pont/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) — Clearly the post-battle orange slice from Captain America: Civil War worked: Paul Rudd tells Entertainment Tonight that he turned in the first treatment for the sequel Ant-Man and The Wasp

As its title suggests, star and co-writer Rudd’s third go ’round as Scott Lang, engineer-turned cat burglar-turned size-shifting Marvel hero, will feature Rudd’s Ant-Man co-star Evangeline Lilly by his side as the similarly-superpowered heroine, The Wasp.

“We’ve been coming up with the story, just turned in a treatment, but it’s so preliminary,” Rudd told ET while on the red carpet for his latest film, the animated Sausage Party. “We’ll see. We have an idea of what it might look like but it could change a lot from where we’re at now.”

Indeed, after Ant-Man‘s first director Edgar Wright exited the project, the script he co-wrote was re-tooled by Rudd and his Anchorman director — and Big Short Oscar winner — Adam McKay for director Peyton Reed, and the movie about the tiny hero became a giant hit.

For the Ant-Man sequel, Rudd is again collaborating with writer McKay, as well as Transformers writers Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer.

In other news, Rudd gave high praise for Brie Larson, the latest woman to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  The Academy Award winner will play Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel on the big screen in 2019.

“I love that. Love Brie Larson. I think she’s incredible. I think we’ve very lucky to have Brie Larson in the fold,” Rudd told ET.

Michael Douglas is expected to reprise his role as the original Ant-Man, Dr. Hank Pym, when Ant-Man and The Wasp flies into theaters July 6, 2018 from Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
