“Pete's Dragon,” “Sausage Party,” “Florence Foster Jenkins” Open Today

“Pete’s Dragon”; Walt Disney Studios(NEW YORK) — Here’s a look at the new movies opening nationwide today:

* Pete’s Dragon — Disney’s remake of the 1977 original stars Bryce Dallas Howard as a forest ranger who meets a 10-year-old boy, Pete, who says he lives in the woods with a dragon named Elliot. Robert Redford, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Oona Laurence and Karl Urban also star.  Rated PG. Disney is the parent company of ABC News.

* Sausage Party — A star cast led by co-writer Seth Rogen lends their voices to what’s being billed as the first R-rated, CG-animated movie. A sausage and other supermarket products find out what happens to them once they leave the store. Hint — it’s not what they expected. Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd and Nick Kroll are part of the cast.

* Florence Foster Jenkins — Meryl Streep is a New York heiress and socialite who wants to give a concert at Carnegie Hall, even though her singing ability leaves something to be desired. Hugh Grant, Simon Helberg and Rebecca Ferguson also star in the film, which is set in the 1940s and is based on a true story. Rated PG-13.
