Paramount Pictures has announced that a fourth film in the rebooted franchise is on the way.

Not much is known about the new film other than that Chris Pine again reprising his role as Captain Kirk — will cross paths with a man he’s never met, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father George Kirk, played by Chris Hemsworth, who appeared in 2009’s Star Trek.  George Kirk also appeared to die, quite difinitively, in that film, so it’ll be interesting to see how father and son meet.

The remaining Star Trek movie cast is also expected to return, with the sad exception of Anton Yelchin as Chekhov — the actor was killed last month in a freak auto accident.  There’s as yet no word on whether the part will be re-cast, or if the classic Star Trek character will be absent from the movie.

J.J. Abrams , who directed and produced the first two Star Trek movies and co-produced the latest, Star Trek Beyond, will produce the fourth installment, along with 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s Lindsey Weber.

Star Trek Beyond opens Friday.
