USA Network Postpones “Shooter” Premiere Due to Dallas Shooting

L-R: Ryan Phillippe and Omar Epps in “Shooter”; Dean Buscher/USA Network(NEW YORK) — The USA Network has postponed the premiere of its upcoming drama Shooter in light of the shooting in Dallas last week that left five officers dead and 11 other people injured.

Shooter, based on the best-selling Stephen Hunter novel Point of Impact and the 2007 film Shooter, was scheduled to premiere July 19, but the start date has been pushed back by one week.

“In light of recent tragic events and out of respect for the victims, their families and our viewers, we have decided to postpone the premiere date for the upcoming USA Network series Shooter to July 26,” a network spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.

Shooter will star Ryan Phillippe as a sniper in exile who returns to action after learning of a plot to kill the president.
