When asked if the new Ghostbusters reboot was good medicine for the country, actress Leslie Jones said, “Well, right now, we need some communal laughter. We need to laugh together.” She continued, “Our nation is sad right now. We need to just hold each other right now.”

Jones’ Ghostbusters co-star Kate McKinnon said of the racial divides in the U.S., “There’s a lot to be ashamed of, but there’s a lot to be proud of, as well. And this movie is a celebration of how far we come and the things that we have to be proud of.”

Ghostbusters, also starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Chrs Hemsworth, opens nationwide Friday.
