Peter Kramer/NBC(NEW YORK) — Katy Perry graces the cover of the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar, and inside the mag, she’s one of many famous women who pose as female icons of the past. Katy poses as acting legend Elizabeth Taylor, and jokes that her personal life will eventually match that of the late actress, who was married eight times to seven men.
“An icon transcends time,” Katy tells the magazine when asked why Taylor is her personal icon. “Liz was so fabulous and decadent and had a style that evolved with the years …and I’m sure I’ll be married just as many times!”
So far, Katy’s been married just the once, to comedian Russell Brand, but it seems she’s broken up and gotten back together with John Mayer at least eight times.
Katy is currently promoting her latest fragrance, Mad Potion. She tells the Los Angeles Times, “I love the idea of this perfume. I love the idea that fragrance is kind of like a magical potion. I think fragrance can create very impressionable memories and those memories can make you time-travel sometimes.”
She explains, “You can smell something that reminds you of being a teenager, or if you meet a man who wears the fragrance of your first boyfriend, all of a sudden you time-travel, you go back to that moment.”
Katy adds, “I believe that scent is really powerful. And, I like being in the business of powerful.”
