Calista Flockhart Says Harrison Ford's Plane Crash Was a 'Scary Time'

Monty Brinton/CBS(LOS ANGELES) — Harrison Ford is well on the mend after being seriously injured when his vintage plane crash-landed on a Santa Monica, California golf course last March.  Now we’re hearing from his wife, actress Calista Flockhart, about how the incident affected their family.

“It was a really hard, scary time for our family,” she recalled at the Television Critics Association summer press tour Monday, reports Us Weekly. “I think it just makes you realize, once again, that life can turn on a dime. We just have to appreciate every second we’re here, because you never know.”

Now that her husband is “”doing really well” following the crash, Flockhart can focus on her new TV series, Supergirl.

“I’m still really excited about being part of a new show and I’m happy that I don’t have to carry the show and I’m happy that I’m Cat Grant and not Supergirl this time around,” the former Ally McBeal andBrothers & Sisters star said. “It just gives me a little more time — my family is very important to me so I’m blessed that I’m just going to be here a little bit and go home to my family. I think that it’s just me. I have a different perspective.”

Supergirl premieres on CBS Oct. 26 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
