(NEW YORK) — Lady Gaga starts shooting her part on American Horror Story: Hotel on Monday, and even though she’s not going to appear in every episode of the season, Brad Falchuk, the show’s co-creator, says the singer will be “pretty spectacular” in her role as the owner of the titular hotel.

Speaking to ABC Radio, Falchuk says Gaga’s part will be substantial, despite the limited time her schedule allows her to shoot.

“We have her for eight episodes.  I mean, she’s very busy,” he says. “But she’s not a cameo. She’s not some thing wandering around in the background — she has real, real stuff to do.”

“She has some amazing stuff,” adds Falchuk.  “Obviously, if you have someone like that doing the show, you want to make sure you honor her bigness and her greatness with bigness and greatness.  So I think it’s really amazing: from the costumes to her character, it’s really…she’s pretty spectacular.”

Falchuk’s co-creator and co-executive producer, Ryan Murphy, revealed on Friday that Gaga will play Elizabeth, the hotel owner, who has sex with both men and women, and who has a “nefarious” plan.   How’d she end up on the show in the first place, though? He told Entertainment Weekly that Gaga wrote to him, said she loved the show, and asked if he’d consider casting her. Of course, he said yes, adding, “When you work with someone like her, you sign up for something larger than life.”

Despite Gaga’s star power, Falchuk doesn’t think that she’ll be an intimidating presence on the set when she reports for duty today.

“I don’t think so, I mean, y’know, she seems super cool, like, [during] her fittings and everything, everyone loves her so far, so I’m sure she’ll be great,” Falchuk tells ABC Radio. “And remember, she’s coming onto a set, she hasn’t done this much before, so…to me, it’s more important everyone makes her feel comfortable and feel safe — and so I’m sure they will.”

American Horror Story: Hotel will premiere October 7 on FX. The cast also includes Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, Kathy Bates, Wes Bentley and Cheyenne Jackson, just to name a few.
