Charlize Theron Visits “Dark Places” with Latest Movie Role

Doane Gregory/A24(NEW YORK) — In Dark Places, Charlize Theron plays the now-adult sole survivor of a childhood family massacre, which was blamed on her brother. After she’s haunted by the murders of her past, she meets an amateur investigative group called “The Kill Club,” who believes her brother is innocent, and wants to do their own investigation into the murders.

The Oscar-winning actress said the film will keep moviegoers at the edge of their seats.

“You’re constantly watching people unravel, people not trusting other people,” Theron said on Friday’s Good Morning America“I think it’s for an audience who just likes good storytelling, which is very rare to find these days.”

The film is based on author Gillian Flynn’s bestselling book of the same name. Flynn said moviegoers won’t be able to figure out the ending of the film, and for good reason.  “Literally when I was writing it I was 30 pages from the end going like, “I wonder who did it?'” she explained, laughing.

Dark Places, also starring Christina Hendricks, Nicholas Hoult and Chloe Grace Moretz, is out now.
