Monty Brinton/CBS(NASHVILLE) — Many people were saddened by news that country singer Reba McEntire and her manager and husband of 26 years, Narvel Blackstock, decided to split. But if it hadn’t been for Kelly Clarkson, they might have called it quits much sooner, according to Us Weekly.
Kelly, who’s married to Narvel’s son Brandon Blackstock, reportedly tried to convince her in-laws to stay together.
“They’ve been living apart for two years,” a source tells Us. “Kelly urged them not to split and she’s the reason they didn’t split earlier.”
The source adds that Kelly, whose own parents are divorced, “was really fighting for them to make it work and stay together.”
Reba and Narvel announced their separation on Monday. Narvel runs the management company that reps both Reba and Kelly. “Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other,” a joint statement read. “They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. They have asked that you respect their privacy during this time.”
