Is Kim Kardashian's “Selfish” Book a Flop?

Timothy White/E!(NEW YORK) — Was Kim Kardashian’s latest book, Selfish, which features hundreds of selfies of the reality star, a flop?

Radar Online claims reps for Nielsen Bookscan tell them only 32,000 copies of the book sold in the U.S.

Given Kardashian’s Twitter account has 34.1 million followers, those U.S. sales figures, if true, are nothing to boast about.

Kardashian’s book publisher, Rizzoli, is putting the best spin it can on the report.

“The Bookscan number of 30K floating around is not inaccurate but it represents a very small segment of our sales overall, which are very strong in non-bookstore specialty retailers, and international sales, neither of which report to Bookscan,” the publisher told Us Weekly in a statement. “The book is, in fact, a significant success story as a benchmark of the phenomenon of self-portrait in the digital age.”

The statement adds the book is now in its fourth printing, with total sales reaching approximately 125,000 copies worldwide.

Selfish, released May 5, features nothing but selfies of Kardashian and famous friends, including Jennifer Lopez, Ciara, La La Anthony and Paris Hilton.
