Angelina Jolie Shares More About “By the Sea”

Fox(LOS ANGELES) — We’re learning more about By the Sea, the first film in a decade that stars now-married couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

By the Sea, set in 1970s France, centers on a couple, Roland and Vanessa, who travel and write together as their relationship falls apart, until they happen upon a small town on the water.

“It focuses on three couples, all at different stages in their lives,” Jolie told People magazine about the film. “And at its center are the questions of what happened to Roland and Vanessa and why they are in the place they are now.”

Jolie, who also wrote and directed By the Sea, said it was hard to juggle so many hats on set.  “It was difficult to be both inside and outside of the scenes, to be able to give directions,” she said. “It was hardest [when] I was directing our fight scenes.”

Jolie added that directing her husband in the film made her “appreciate his creative process and his work ethic even more than before.”

Jolie and Pitt previously starred in the 2005 action-comedy Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

By the Sea hits theaters Nov. 13.
