Jason Derulo Says “So You Think You Can Dance” Has Been ‘Amazing’

Jeffrey Neira/FOX(NEW YORK) — Jason Derulo is a singer and songwriter, but this year, he added “reality show judge” to his resume, joining the panel of Fox’s long-running series So You Think You Can Dance.  As the show heads into the home stretch, the “Want to Want You” singer says his time on the panel this season has been a real learning experience for him.

“I think as a performer you should be able to humble yourself enough to learn from anybody,” Jason tells ABC Radio. “Whether they’re professional or not, you should be able to be so humble that you can take insight from anywhere. So this show has offered me a bunch of that.”

He adds, “You know, I sit next to Paula Abdul, who is probably one of the most influential choreographers, Nigel Lythgoe, who’s the creator of the show, and it’s been amazing.”

Not only has Jason been able to soak up knowledge from those two veterans but, he says, the contestants have a thing or two to teach him as well.

“I get to watch amazing dancers from all across the world and they all bring something totally different, you know what I’m saying? So I definitely take heed,” Jason tells ABC Radio.  “And I’m able to give off a lot of the information that I’ve garnered over the years. I have so much that I can give.”

While he’s on the show, Jason doesn’t have a lot of time to perform on stage himself, but he has a few tour dates coming up starting this weekend at the Dubuque County Fair in Iowa.  He’s also appearing at the Wisconsin State Fair on August 7, and at the Washington State Fair on September 26.
