Jeremy Renner Talks What to Expect in “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation”

Peter Kramer/NBC(NEW YORK) — In Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation, Tom Cruise is seen hanging from the side of a plane as it takes off as he reprises his role as agent Ethan Hunt. Can moviegoers expect the same high-octane action sequences from co-star Jeremy Renner?

“I don’t know,” Renner admitted on Monday’s Live with Kelly and Michael of daring stunts. “I don’t think I’d go that far to do that sort of stuff, but I’d do it if I had to.”

“I think [Tom] kind of comes up with those ideas to do it. I would do it if it was asked of me,” Renner added. “I think he’s sort of likes coming up with the idea to do it.”

Still, Renner said viewers can count on him to make them laugh in the action film. “There’s a lot of humor to help cut the tension. I usually am the guy that creates tension but this one, I get to like, you know, kinda cut it a little bit,” he explained.

On Kelly and Michael, Renner also revealed the hardest part of working on the fifth installment of the Mission: Impossible series“For me, it was being on an 11-hour flight from my baby. So that was tough,” he said.

Renner and his estranged wife, Sonni Pacheco, welcomed a daughter, Ava Berlin, in March 2013.

“I did Avengers right before Mission and we both shot in London so it’s a year [of being away,]” sad Renner. “People are like, ‘You’re not gonna miss out on any[thing]…she’s not gonna remember.’ I’m like, ‘What about my memories!’ My memories are important.”

Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation, also starring Alec Baldwin and Ving Rhames, is out Friday.
