“Sharknado 3” Ratings Down from Previous Installment

Syfy(NEW YORK) — Did the third Sharknado movie match the ratings of the other sequel in the Syfy series? Oh hell no!

The premiere of Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! on Wednesday night was watched by an estimated 2.8 million viewers — a solid number for Syfy, but a drop from the 3.9 million who tuned in to last year’s Sharknado 2: The Second One.

The original Sharknado movie drew 1.4 million viewers in 2013.

Sharknado 3, which featured the return of stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, resulted in two billion Twitter impressions on Wednesday night. It was the most social program on TV in Twitter activity.

The movie ended with a cut-to-black scene that left the fate of Reid’s character, April, uncertain. Viewers were asked to vote on whether she should live to see the fourth Sharknado movie.
