“Pixels,” “Paper Towns,” “Southpaw” Open Friday

Sony/Columbia(NEW YORK) — Here’s a look at the new movies opening nationwide Friday:

Pixels — Classic arcade game characters like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong are on the rampage, thanks to an alien invasion, and it’s up to some old-school gamers to take them on. Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad and Brian Cox star. Rated PG-13. 

Paper Towns — A boy and his friends embark on an adventure to track down his female neighbor, who’s disappeared and has left behind clues for him to solve in order to unravel the mystery. Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne star in the film, which is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by The Fault in Our Stars authorJohn Green. Rated PG-13.   

Southpaw — Jake Gyllenhaal is a boxer whose life goes into a downward spiral after he loses his wife and then custody of his daughter. Training Day director Antoine Fuqua helmed the drama, which also starsCurtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Forest Whitaker and Rachel McAdams. Rated R.
