Seth Rogen Throwing James Franco a Bar Mitzvah for Charity

Dana Edelson/NBC(NEW YORK) — James Franco is about to officially become a man, thanks to Seth Rogen, who’s throwing his buddy and frequent co-star a Bar Miztvah.

The event, scheduled to take place at the Hollywood Palladium on October 17, is the fourth annual variety show put on by Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller Rogen’s Hilarity for Charity, which raises awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.

The Rogens established the charity after Lauren’s mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s when she was 55 years old.

“Ever since I’ve known James, he’s been talking about wanting a Bar Mitzvah,” the Neighbors star explains in a statement. “We’re excited to see him finally become a man while also helping us raise awareness and funds for people living with Alzheimer’s and towards research that will lead to a cure.”

“And in celebration we’ll also have a mohel and a live bris for James at the event. You don’t want to miss it,” adds Rogen.

Tickets to the public go on sale August 11 at HilarityForCharity.org.

Last year’s Hilarity for Charity event, which featured appearances by Kevin Hart, Paul Rudd and many other A-listers, raised nearly $1 million.

Rogen plays computer pioneer Steve Wozniak in the upcoming biopic Steve Jobs, opening nationwide October 9.
