Bill Cosby Dropped from Documentary

Photo by: Peter Kramer/NBC(LOS ANGELES) — Bill Cosby has been dropped from another project, and it may have been his last project on film.

Cosby was a big part of an upcoming documentary, titled Painted Down, on black stuntmen in Hollywood, which focused on the practice of painting down, or using white stuntmen painted to look black. Cosby refused to allow painting down on the 1960s show I Spy.

Now the documentary is refusing to allow Cosby any airtime. Producer Nonie Robinson said they can’t stand by the comedian anymore, and will cut his interview from the film.

She believes it was the last project standing behind him, as he faces accusations of sexual assault by dozens of women.

Robinson tells ABC Radio, “It was a heartbreaking decision, but in light of the facts that were brought to light with the deposition, there’s just no other way to handle a situation like this.”

Robinson says she broke the news of the decision to Cosby personally, and he handled it well. “He understands business,” she says.

Last fall, NBC dropped a planned comedy project that would have starred Cosby, due to the allegations.
