CeeLo Green Releases New Single, “Robin Williams”

Atlantic RecordsSinger CeeLo Green has released a brand-new song, titled “Robin Williams.”  Like the title suggests, it’s inspired by the late comic, who died a year ago next month at age 63.

“I’m afraid of not being able to laugh anymore,” CeeLo sings. “We don’t know what the next man’s going through/Wish I could say it in a plainer way/Life reminds me of Robin Williams/We’ve got to laugh the pain away.”

The song also namechecks Richard Pryor, John Belushi, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Phil Hartman and other talents who left us too soon.

“‘Robin Williams’ is a homage to our humanity,” says Green in a statement, “centered around the strength it takes to smile in the face of adversity.”

The lyric video accompanying the single was created in partnership with technology company Interlude, and allows users to watch as the single’s lyrics are typed into the Google search bar while simultaneously letting them click between Google, Google Images, Google Shopping, and Google Videos.

“Robin Williams” is featured on Green’s forthcoming album Heart Blanche, due November 13.
