“Empire” Creator Drops F-Bomb After Emmy Snub

Chuck Hodes/FOX(LOS ANGELES) — Empire creator Lee Daniels used colorful language Thursday on Instagram after his show was excluded from the Emmys’ outstanding drama series category during the nominations announcement.

In a video posted to the social networking site, Daniels stands alongside Empire star Jussie Smollett, commenting, “Jussie’s saying I have to be politically correct on Instagram.”

Smollett chimes in, “You have to be nice!”

Daniels interrupts, “F*** these m*****f******!”

He added the hashtags, “#canfinallypostthis #timetoberealagain #emmyniceguyoverwith.”

Daniels makes it clear in a follow-up video that he was just kidding around.

“Some of these people ain’t got nothing else better to do but to hate on me for having fun,” he says. “I was having fun. I love the Emmys and I’m excited about my cast and crew that got nominated and for the other people that got nominated for Emmys.

“So haters, shut up and go to bed,” Daniels concludes.

His Fox series received a total of three nominations, including one for Taraji P. Henson in the outstanding lead actress in a drama series category. Henson reacted Thursday, “I’m grateful, I’m honored, I know this is something that a lot of actors can’t say. So I am grateful for that. I am.

“I’m not stupid,” she added with a laugh.
