Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Says It Won't Remove Cosby & Trump's Walk of Fame Stars

David Livingston/Getty ImagesThe Hollywood Chamber of Commerce says Donald Trump and Bill Cosby’s stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will remain in place, amid separate controversies for the two men.

Leron Gubler, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, said in a statement Thursday, “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has received inquiries asking whether we are planning to remove the stars of Donald Trump and Bill Cosby. The answer is no.”

“The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a registered historic landmark,” the statement continues. “Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.”

Earl Ofari Hutchinson of the Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable and Najee Ali of Project Islamic Hope had requested that Cosby’s star be removed from the famed sidewalk.

Trump upset many in the Latino community when he described immigrants from Mexico as “bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.” He made the comment last month when he announced his presidential candidacy.

Cosby is facing sexual assault allegations from dozens of women. In 2005 court filings released Monday, it was revealed that Cosby admitted to giving a woman Quaaludes and said that he obtained the drugs with the idea that he would give them to women he wanted to have sex with. Cosby’s Walk of Fame star was defaced last December with the word “rapist.”
