“Fifty Shades of Grey” Author E.L. James' Twitter Q&A Is an Epic Fail

Universal(NEW YORK) — Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James conducted a Twitter Q&A to coincide with the recent release of Grey, which tells the story from the perspective of the series’ male protagonist, Christian Grey. Unfortunately, she got a less-than-enthusiastic response.

Critics who think the books amount to domestic abuse disguised as romance took the opportunity to fire off a barrage of snarky remarks at James’ expense.

It got so bad that it seems either James or a member of her team allegedly blocked tweeters who took aim at the controversy.

Here’s a sample of the remarks:

“Did you know how to read when you wrote Fifty Shades of Grey?” asks one of the tweeters. Another notes, “do you find it ironic that you write as if someone has tied you to a chair and forced you to?”

Other comments centered on the controversy surrounding the books, including this one that wondered, “why did you think it was okay to teach young girls that a possessive partner who refuses to hear no was romantic?”
