Jada Pinkett Smith Says Will Smith Doesn't Get Jealous Any More

ABC/Heidi Gutman(NEW YORK) — Jada Pinkett Smith is one of the rare female stars of Magic Mike XXL. The actress, who is married to Will Smith, said her husband wasn’t really worried that she’d be around half-dressed Hollywood hunks while filming the sequel to 2012’s Magic Mike.

“People always say, ‘Was he jealous?’ And I say, ‘Listen, after 20 years of marriage boo boo, he know he got me on lock down,'” she on Monday’s Good Morning America.

Pinkett Smith admitted that she was never into strip clubs, but after filming Magic Mike XXL, she better understands why women frequent the venues.

“Women go to these particular shows to feel validated, to feel acknowledged. It really isn’t about sex in any sense of the word,” she explained. “And so that was what it was really about for us [filming], for that hour that you are there with us you are going to feel like a queen, every last woman in that room.”

Pinkett Smith won’t be stripping down in the film. The actress explained on GMA that her character instead “owns an erotic club.”

“And for Rome, my particular character, she looks at eroticism as a religion, as a way for a person to find their enlightened self,” she added, laughing. “And so the [boys] come to her because they want her to emcee their last show.

Magic Mike XXL, also starring Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Adam Rodriguez and Kevin Nash, is out Wednesday.
