Stars of “Ted 2” Say Film Is About More Than Laughs

Universal(NEW YORK) — The stars of Ted 2 — Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Giovanni Ribisi — walked the red carpet Wednesday night at the New York City premiere of Ted 2.

Jessica Barth, who reprises her role as Tami-Lynn, the onscreen love interest of the hilariously offensive teddy bear, said the film is not only funny, it touches on real-life issues.

“In the beginning she just gets married and she has this big beautiful wedding…and then it goes to a year later and all that wedding excitement has died down. And you have to deal with being married and being with this person every day and they think that having a baby will fix [their] problems,” she told ABC Radio.

“But in doing that, in trying to have a baby, they realize that he’s not a person — or that he’s not considered a person — and so they go on this journey to prove his personhood,” she continued.

Seth MacFarlane is back as the voice of Ted, the beloved teddy bear of John Bennett, played by Wahlberg. The writer and director said it was important for him to get the sequel right.

“These are characters that people liked seeing. People responded to the relationship between Ted and John and so it was really about the challenge of telling a new story, of not rehashing the same movie twice,” he explained. “And hopefully we’ve done that. Hopefully we’ve kinda broadened his world and explored a new side of his reality.”

Ted 2, also starring Morgan Freeman, is out Friday.
