How Does Channing Tatum Feel About His Daughter Seeing “Magic Mike”?

Warner Bros.(NEW YORK) — Although millions of people have already seen Channing Tatum’s moves in Magic Mike, there’s one person who hasn’t seen the film…and he probably wants to keep it that way. Tatum said he’s already thought about what his 2-year-old daughter, Everly, might think if one day she sees the film and its sequel, Magic Mike XXL.

The actor, who’s married to his Step Up co-star Jenna Dewan Tatum, told People magazine that one day he’ll have to sit his daughter down and say, “once upon a time, Daddy played a stripper.”

“She’s gonna see it; there’s no way I could shelter her from it,” Tatum says.  “I’m setting aside money for college and for therapy,” he quipped, before adding, “But you know, I can’t change the fact that I did this in real life.”

Tatum’s experiences as a stripper were the basis of the box office hit, Magic Mike, released in 2012. He’s also been very open about drinking heavily and experimenting with cocaine during that time.

“I’m not ashamed of anything I’ve ever done,” Tatum says. “I think we teach better through our behavior and by our experiences rather than trying to design some lesson.”

Magic Mike XXL is in theaters July 1.
