“Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” Actor Jake Lloyd Arrested After Car Chase

Gilbert Carrasquillo/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Jake Lloyd, who played the young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, apparently has a dark side to him.

The former child actor, who also goes by the name Jake Broadbent, was arrested on Wednesday after being chased in his silver Nissan compact by police, and plowing into some trees in South Carolina, reports The Post and Courier newspaper.

According to Colleton County sheriff’s Sgt. Kyle Strickland, Lloyd, who is now 26 years old, was driving in Charleston County when sheriff’s deputies started to pursue him. The deputies reported that Lloyd was speeding, crossing a double yellow line and going head-on into traffic to pass cars.

Lloyd was arrested for reckless driving, failure to stop for blue lights, resisting arrest and driving without a license.  Deputies did not believe Lloyd was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to Strickland.

Lloyd remained jailed Sunday in Colleton County, where he is being held on $10,700 bail.

Lloyd also appeared in the 1996 holiday film Jingle All the Way, opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, and in 2005’s Madison, with Jim Caviezel.
