Charles Sykes/Bravo(LOS ANGELES) — After Sofia Vergara walks down the aisle to marry Joe Manganiello, could she be known as Sofia Manganiello? It’s possible, the Magic Mike XXL actor said.
“We’re talking about it,” he told Extra of his fiancee’s potential name change.
Manganiello also spoke about his upcoming nuptials, joking that it’ll happen this weekend. “Richard Branson’s been so kind as to lend us his space shuttle, so we’re gonna do it up in the atmosphere,” he quipped.
More seriously, the actor admitted the wedding will likely be big. “She has about two hundred cousins so I think keeping it small is impossible,” he explained.
Manganiello, who popped the question to Vergara last December, also revealed he proposed in Spanish, since his future bride is from Colombia.
“I had a huge speech,” he recalled. “I had three years of Spanish in high school and I was really good, really fast, then of course twenty years go by, I forget it all, now I’m gonna marry a Latin woman so I’m in a rush to get it all back, but I prepared this big speech that I gave to her on Christmas when I proposed.”
And it looks like Manganiello chose the right woman. While filming scenes in Magic Mike XXL, he injured himself, but Vergara was right by his side.
“I tore my biceps during my finale routine on a sex swing,” he said. “I went out [and] shot another four and a half hours, finished my scene and then as soon as I got back to L.A. went into surgery.”
Manganiello said his recovery has “been a long slow process, but I’ve got a great woman at home helping take care of me.”
Magic Mike XXL, also starring Channing Tatum, hits theaters July 1.
