Anthony Anderson Describes His Perfect Father's Day

ABC/Nicole Wilder(NEW YORK) — If black-ish star Anthony Anderson had his own way this Sunday, his two kids with wife Alvina Stewart would plan a Father’s Day that centers on his love of golf.

Anderson tells ABC Radio that a perfect Father’s Day for him would be “for my kids to have a car waiting for me to take me to the golf course of my choice. And I just play 36 holes and I come back home and they rub my feet and massage my shoulders and tell me how much they adore and love me.”

Anderson’s teenage son Nathan is following in his father’s footsteps as an actor. He’s even appeared on Richie Rich. Anderson says he’s had to pass down some hard-hitting advice to his son when it comes to his chosen career path.

“He is truly my son and I understand him completely. It’s just about work ethic. I didn’t get this far in my career resting on my laurels and not putting in the work. But I wasn’t always like this and I see those things in my son,” he explains. “So I just let him know, ‘Son, you have to put in the work. You only get out of it what you put into it. And no one was there to tell me this. I had to figure this out on my own.'”

It almost sounds like something his black-ish character, Dre, would say. A new season of the hit ABC comedy premieres September 23 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern.
