“Fashion Police” Returning in August with New Co-Host Melissa Rivers

E! (LOS ANGELES) — Fashion Police will return from hiatus in late August, with Melissa Rivers as its new co-host.

E! announced Wednesday that Rivers, the daughter of late Fashion Police star Joan Rivers, will join current panelists Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski when the program resumes on August 31 with coverage of MTV’s Video Music Awards.

Rivers, who has served as an executive producer of the show since its launch in 2010, said in a statement, “I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to continue to work with my E! and Fashion Police family.”

Rivers previously covered many red carpet events with her mother, who died last September.

E! said each of the six new episodes of Fashion Police will feature two celebrity guests in addition to the regular panelists.

Fashion Police was put on hiatus in March, after co-hosts Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin announced their departures from the show. Both left in the wake of a controversial episode of the program in which Rancic joked that Disney star Zendaya’s dreadlocked hair on the Oscars red carpet looked like they smelled like “patchouli oil” or “weed.” Rancic later apologized for the remark.
