Aaron Paul Pranks Fans with Fake “Breaking Bad” Spin-Off Announcement

Frank Ockenfels 3/AMC(LOS ANGELES) — There were Breaking Bad fans on Twitter who were feeling let down after Aaron Paul announced a spin-off of the popular drama, only to reveal it was a hoax.

Paul, who played Walter White’s sidekick Jesse Pinkman on the AMC series, initially claimed on Instagram that he had a “top secret” project in the works.

On Monday, he used Periscope to announce that Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan was developing a spin-off that would follow Jesse living a new life in Alaska.

Turns out Paul was joking out of boredom, but some fans on Twitter thought the prank was “mean.” Other followers resorted to calling him Jesse’s favorite word, “b****,” albeit in a playful way.

Paul tweeted an apology, writing, “Sorry for the joke everybody. I love you all so much. Hugs and kisses.”

In a possible attempt to make it up to his fans, he later wrote, “Mad Max??? Come watch it with me and all of my Boston friends at Regal cinemas near Fenway. 10:40 showing!! Hope you can make it boston.”

The Breaking Bad spin-off that actually exists, Better Call Saul, returns for its second season on AMC in 2016.
