“Married at First Sight” Star Claims Husband Threatened to Kill Her

A&E(LOS ANGELES) — Married at First Sight couple Jessica Castro and Ryan De Nino decided to stay married after the six-week “social experiment” ended, but things have soured since the show taped.

Over the weekend, De Nino posted on Instagram a partial image of a restraining order filed against him by his wife, and wrote that it “had me in awe” and “disgusted” him.

Her attorney told ABC News that he threatened to kill Castro and her family members, and the priority now is to protect her from “all threats to her safety and well-being.”

Kinetic Content, the show’s producer, commented on the developments in an emailed statement to ABC News.

“We don’t know all the details and can’t comment on the specifics. What we can say is that unfortunately, couples on the show can go through real divorces, and divorce can often be difficult,” Kinetic Content wrote. “The experts on our show have the best of intentions and highest hopes for success for each couple. After undergoing extensive background and psychological checks by third parties, couples agree to be legally married on our show. We document their journey for six weeks after their wedding, but we can’t control how they behave, or govern their actions after production.”

“Our thoughts are with these individuals, and as always we have offered each of them significant aftercare resources,” the statement added. “We wish them nothing but the best, and hope they have a bright future ahead of them.”

Castro and De Nino had a rocky marriage on the show, and at one point, went days without speaking. However, during last week’s finale, they agreed to try to make the relationship work.

“I come from a family of long successful marriages,” Castro said on the show. “The word ‘divorce’ just doesn’t fall into my lifestyle.”

Both Castro and De Nino declined to comment.
