Which Pop Star's the Most Influential Woman on Twitter?

Michelangelo Di Battista/RCA RecordsWhich musician is the most influential woman on Twitter?  The answer might surprise you. It’s none other than Britney Spears, according to a list compiled by The Huffington Post UK.

According to the site, Britney may not be as popular as she was in her “…Baby One More Time” days, but she continually engages her 42 million followers with posts about her everyday life. She frequently posts “off-duty” photos with her kids, and her followers seem to relate and respond to the casual, authentic snaps.

The most powerful 100 women were ranked based on influence, outreach and their number of followers. Britney received the maximum influence score and the maximum outreach score for her Twitter efforts.

Ariana Grande, who recently drew thousands of retweets for her feminist Twitter post, came in at number two on the list. Surprisingly, Iggy Azalea, who’s collaborated with both Ariana and Britney, came in at number six in the ranking, despite being mostly absent from social media as of late. The Aussie rapper has amassed around 40,000 tweets since she joined the site in 2010.

The top 10 also includes rapper Nicki Minaj, Khloe Kardashian, Disney actress Bella Thorne, Lady Gaga, Ellen DeGeneres, Kim Kardashian West and Oprah Winfrey. Katy Perry is the woman with the most Twitter followers — she has more than 70 million — but she’s only the 17th most influential on the list.

The Huffington Post UK worked with Twitter marketing company SocialBro and the influence measurement tool Kred to determine the list. Only verified accounts were considered.
