The 16-year-old will star in the new film, Yoga Hosers, directed by Kevin Smith. The film, which centers on two yoga-obsessed teenagers going to a senior party, where things go wrong — also features Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, according to People.
The Clerks director said watching the Depps interact in a film was “adorable.”
“There’s a scene in an interrogation room between the two of them and they’re actually trying to out act each other and it’s really cute,” Smith says. “Then Lily busts out some French — because she speaks French really fluently — and just shows him up.”
Lily comes by her French naturally — she was born in France and lived there with Depp and her mom, Vanessa Paradis, who visited her daughter on the set.
Lily and Harley are longtime friends and classmates and have known each other since kindergarten. Both girls had small roles in Smith’s film Tusk, which also starred Depp. “At the end of the day of filming Tusk, Johnny was like, ‘If we were smart we’d retire and live off these girls,’ ” Smith said. “I took that rather seriously.”
Smith praised the easygoing relationship of father and daughter, and said it made for a fun time on the set. “The whole movie is a real charm factory,” Smith says. “It’s just charm city, particularly watching a father and daughter act with each other.”
