Frank Oz Weighs In on New “Star Wars” Film, Muppets Show

Both Star Wars and the Muppets are making a comeback this year — what does he think about that?

Regarding Star Wars, Oz is confident that the new film in the series, The Force Awakens, opening this December, will be “great.” He gushed about director J.J. Abrams in an interview with ABC Radio, saying, “[B]esides being an enthusiast and a real fan of his, his work has been great. So I’m really looking forward to it.”

Oz is taking more of a wait-and-see approach with the Muppets program premiering on ABC this fall. He said, “I’ll be excited if the quality is good. And if it’s edgy and anarchic. As long as it’s not sweet and smarmy, I’ll be happy.”

Oz lends his voice to the animated film Inside Out, which hits theaters June 19.

Star Wars, the Muppets and Inside Out are properties of Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
