Stars Give the Inside Scoop on “Inside Out” at Premiere

Disney/Buena Vista(LOS ANGELES) — Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black, Bill Hader, and Phyllis Smith, respectively, voice the embodiment of the emotions Joy, Disgust, Anger, Fear, and Sadness in the upcoming Disney/Pixar film Inside Out — but each actor was all smiles at Monday night’s Hollywood premiere.

The cast was joined by their celebrity pals like Poehler’s Parks and Rec co-star Rashida Jones — who also worked on The Office with Smith — as well as Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s Cheryl Hines, comic and Ratatouille voice-over vet Patton Oswalt, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and other stars and their kids on the event’s purple carpet.

That’s where Poehler caught up with ABC Radio and shared what her two sons thought of the film, which gives a peek inside our minds to see why we act the way we do.

“They love it. They think it’s funny,” Poehler said, before admitting her character wasn’t their favorite. “They love Anger. They think he’s hilarious.”

Despite playing the melancholy Sadness, Smith joked to ABC Radio about the event, “How can you be sad at this?” She enthused, “To be in the middle of Hollywood Boulevard with a bunch of brilliant people [who] created a product that hopefully will live on long after I’m gone, you know?”

Hader explained he couldn’t wait for people to get a look at the finished product. “Visually just how they…visualized and dramatized the inside of the mind…They really did a ton of research, and did some amazing stuff with it. It’s really cool.”

Inside Out hits theaters June 19.
