Channing Tatum Pranks Fans at “Magic Mike XXL” Screening

Warner Bros.(LOS ANGELES) — Some lucky moviegoers who were at a supposed advanced screening of Magic Mike XXL recently got a shocking surprise.

Although they thought they were giving their opinions to a marketing executive about the first Magic Mike film, released in 2012, they didn’t realize until later that the “executive” was in fact Magic Mike star Channing Tatum.

The actor dressed in a disguise — wearing prosthetics, make-up, eyeglasses and a grey suit — to chat with fans one-on-one. He also affected a mild southern accent.

In a video released by Omaze that details the prank, Tatum is seen asking one fan, “You saw the first [movie]?”

“I did…parts of it,” the fan replies, laughing.

To which Tatum, as Scott the marketing exec, quips: “You just fast-forwarded right to the dance parts.”

At one point, tatum asks who was the best actor in the original film. “Matthew McConaughey,” the fan replies.

Tatum also asks which parts of the film the fans would most like to see in 3-D.  “The parts where there’s pelvic thrusting,” one young woman declares.

Tatum finally revealed his true identity when the Magic Mike XXL screening started. After male strippers popped up in the theater, which was supposed to be a 3-D screening of Magic Mike XXL, Tatum — still in disguise — began dancing, even twerking on one fan. He then removed his disguise, much to the fans’ surprised delight, and threw roses into the crowd.

Magic Mike XXL, starring Tatum, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello, hits theaters July 1. You could even join Tatum at the film’s red carpet premiere by entering to win at Omaze.com.
