RuPaul Reacts to Caitlyn Jenner's Look, Gives Make-Up Tips

Charles Sykes/Bravo(NEW YORK) — Famed drag queen RuPaul reacts to the news that Bruce Jenner is transgender and will now go byCaitlyn.

“I believe that everybody is transitioning,” the creator of RuPaul’s Drag Race tells ABC Radio. “I’m not the man I was a week ago, or 10 years ago for that matter, and next week I’ll be transformed even more. I don’t differentiate any transition. I think we are all transitioning beings.”

RuPaul adds that he’s not surprised the former Olympian has now transitioned into a woman. “I’m both male and female. You’re both male and female. Everybody is!” he explains. “And it’s interesting how our culture gets hung up on our identities. You have an unlimited capacity for creativity so in terms of people who want to transition I say right on! Do it! You’re doing it anyway. Why not?”

The “Modern Love” singer says he applauds Jenner for transitioning so publicly. After revealing he was transgender during an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, the reality star revealed his new identity as Caitlyn by posing on the July 2015 cover of Vanity Fair.

“I think being open and being the creation of your own imagination is the most important political, brilliant thing a human can be on this planet,” RuPaul says.

RuPaul, who has been dressing in drag for three decades, tells ABC Radio some make-up advice he’d give to Caitlyn. If she’s going to wear false eyelashes, RuPaul says, “Take a strip of false eyelashes and cut them into three pieces. Then dip the glue on one of those pieces and place it on your eyelid. Because that way you’ll get a custom fit to your particular eye, and the curvature of your eye.”

He adds, “After you’ve put your lipstick on, take a brush with some foundation…and go around the edges of the lipstick to really get it straight.”

Don’t skip on eyeliner, RuPaul continues. It’s “more important to do it on the top lid as close to the eyelashes as possible.” And if you plan to line the lower lids, “put it in the shelf” by using MAC’s Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline, “that lifts the eye up.”

RuPaul says that Anastasia Beverly Hills’ eyebrow pencils are “so brilliant” and that he even uses their contour kit.

RuPaul’s Drag Race airs its season seven finale Monday at 9 p.m. Eastern on Logo. He’s also set to be a judge on GSN’s Skin Wars, which premieres its second season June 10 at 9 p.m. Eastern.
