Harrison Ford Returns to the Skies After Plane Crash

Paul Drinkwater/NBC(LOS ANGELES) — After a plane crash that left him hospitalized for nearly a month, Harrison Ford returned to the skies Thursday, flying a helicopter.

According to photos obtained by People magazine, Ford was spotted at Santa Monica Municipal Airport in the cockpit of a 2013 Bell 407 helicopter. The actor was wearing a t-shirt, khaki pants and a hat.

A source told the magazine, “This is the first time Harrison was back at the airport since his scary crash landing.”

“He co-piloted his helicopter and flew up and down the coast with a friend for a couple of hours,” another person added. “He seemed very excited about flying again.”

It was March 5 when the 72-year-old Star Wars actor crashed his single-engine, World War II-era plane on a golf course near Santa Monica Municipal Airport. His plane’s engine reportedly quit and he landed on the golf course while attempting to return to the airport. Ford was transported to UCLA Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where he recovered for nearly a month.
