Nick Cannon Says “America's Got Talent” Gets 'Extreme' for Its 10th Season

Eric Liebowitz/NBC(NEW YORK) — The 10th anniversary season of NBC’s America’s Got Talent gets under way Tuesday night, and host Nick Cannon says this time around, you’ll definitely see things you haven’t seen before.

“I definitely say this each and every season, that this is the biggest and best season, but I’m so telling the truth about season 10 because this is the most extreme season,” he tells ABC Radio.  “We did so many things that have never been done on the show before by focusing on extreme acts, and when we say extreme I mean everything from like Olympic activities to motocross to people blowing themselves up, setting themselves on fire. They’re really trying to take it to the line on season 10 and we had a lot of fun with it.”

Aside from featuring more “extreme” kinds of acts, Cannon reveals they’ve also stretched the meaning of “America” in the title of the show.

“Another thing that’s interesting about season 10 is that we’ve kind of gone outside of the idea of just America. We’ve opened our doors and allowed any international talent to come in and be the best talent in America so, a lot of times it’s always been, ‘Well we want you to be from America,'” Cannon says.  “But I think this time we’ve taken some of the best talent from around the world and displayed it for America.”

When asked if there will be any kind of retrospective looking back at the past 10 years, Nick replies: “You know what, I didn’t think about that. It possibly may be towards once we get to the live shows at Radio City because I know they’re talking about bringing a lot of the winners back.”

Cannon, an all-around entertainer — he acts, he sings, he does comedy — revealed which of his particular talents he would show off if he were to audition for the show.

“I would wanna put my best foot forward. So the things that I’m probably the best at…Man, I mean, I’ve never seen anyone act on America’s Got Talent so I don’t think you can come and like perform a monologue or a scene, so it’d probably be stand-up comedy,” he says.

You can catch the 10th-season premiere of America’s Got Talent at 8 p.m. ET.
