Ben Stiller Pays Tribute to His Late Mother, Anne Meara

Peter Kramer/NBC(NEW YORK) — Veteran actress and comedian Anne Meara died Saturday at the age of 85.

Just two days later, her son, Ben Stiller, thanked fans for their support.

“Thank you so much for all the kind words about Anne,” he tweeted Monday. “All of us in our family feel so lucky to have had her in our lives.”

Meara’s career spanned six decades and multiple platforms, though she’s perhaps best known for her work on TV and radio. She was nominated for four Emmys and won a Writers Guild Award for co-writing the 1983 TV film The Other Woman.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Stiller; two children, Ben and Amy; and grandchildren.
