Bill Murray Announced as David Letterman's Final Scheduled Guest

Jeffrey R. Staab/CBS(NEW YORK) — David Letterman’s final scheduled guest on Late Show will be…Bill Murray.

CBS has announced that the actor will make an appearance on the late-night program next Tuesday, the night before Letterman’s final broadcast.

This comes as no surprise, since Murray was Letterman’s first guest on NBC’s Late Night in 1982, as well as his first guest on Late Show in 1993. Next Tuesday’s segment will represent Murray’s 44th overall appearance with Letterman.

CBS further revealed that Tom Hanks will sit down with Letterman on Monday night, while Eddie Vedder will deliver a musical performance backed by Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra.

As for Letterman’s Late Show finale on Wednesday night, CBS is only saying that it will be “an hour filled with surprises, memorable highlights, the show’s final Top Ten List and more.”

Letterman’s ratings have been on the rise as the countdown to his last night on late-night TV continues. Late Show averaged 3.82 million viewers last week, topping Jimmy Fallon on NBC and Jimmy Kimmel on ABC.
