Rob Lowe Celebrates 25 Years of Sobriety

ABC/Randy Holmes(NEW YORK) — Rob Lowe celebrated an anniversary Sunday: twenty-five years sober.

The actor announced the news in a tweet, writing: “To those struggling with addiction, there is true, real, hope. Twenty-five years ago today, I found recovery and a life of promise. #Grateful.”

Lowe opened up about his struggles with addiction in his 2011 autobiography, Stories I Only Tell My Friends. He also spoke about his past struggles last year when he explained how his wife Sheryl helped him clean up. The two wed in 1991.

“[I] was attempting my first try at monogamy — which was not really in my nature at the time — and I wasn’t able to do it,” he told Haute Living last September. “It made me examine how I was living my life. That led to me getting sober, which led to me changing my life — giving me everything I now have.”

With the milestone behind him, Lowe is set to star in a new Fox legal drama, The Grinder. According to Deadline, the series stars Lowe as a popular TV lawyer whose series is coming to an end. Finding himself at a crossroads, he moves back home to his small town to take over the family law firm. Fred Savage stars as his brother.
