(NEW YORK) — With the host’s retirement right around the corner, past guests are making pilgrimages to appear on Late Show with David Letterman. Wednesday night, it was Cher’s turn.
She made a cameo during David Letterman’s monologue Wednesday night to bid him farewell before his retirement.
She reminded him that she called him an “a**hole” during an appearance on his old Late Night show on NBC in 1986. Letterman claimed he “always took it with a grain of salt,” but she quickly referenced the fact that he subsequently told People magazine the comment hurt his feelings.
Cher then spoke from her heart: “No bulls***, I really love you and I’m going to miss you.”
After prolonged applause, she joked, “And you’re still an a**hole.”
Letterman’s final night as Late Show host is scheduled for May 20.
