Why a Major Character Had to Die in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”

Buena Vista(NEW YORK) — WARNING: Spoilers ahead!

Avengers: Age of Ultron ends with one of the team members falling at the metal hands of Ultron.

The movie opened Friday and, thus far, many have been caught off guard by the sudden death of Quicksilver, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, in one of the final scenes.

Now, Marvel producer Kevin Feige is explaining why he had to die.

“It adds stakes to the ending of the film,” he told MTV News.

He also said it shows the “repercussions to Ultron’s actions, and also in a way to solidify Scarlet Witch’s character, and Wanda’s arc in the movie and where we’ll see her in the next films.”

This is a huge death in the Marvel Universe, so how did they keep Quicksilver’s demise a secret?

Feige said his team released different drafts with the character living at the end and “even shot him standing with the team at the end to prevent people from giving it away.”
