“Avengers: Age of Ultron” Now in Theaters

The Walt Disney Company/Marvel Comics(NEW YORK) — The summer movie season is under way with the release of what will undoubtedly be one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

Avengers: Age of Ultron sees the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man; Chris Hemsworth as Thor; Mark Ruffalo as The Incredible Hulk; Chris Evans as Captain America; Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow; and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

Marvel newcomer James Spader voices Ultron, a villainous robot aiming to wipe out humanity. It’s up to the Avengers to save the planet from Ultron’s destructive ways.

Also new to the franchise are Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver, and Paul Bettany as Vision. Bettany has voiced Iron Man’s A.I. pal, J.A.R.V.I.S., in past Marvel films.

Cobie Smulders, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson also star in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which was directed by Joss Whedon. The film is rated PG-13.

The first Avengers film, released in 2012, grossed $207 million in its opening weekend, so expect Age of Ultron to rake in big bucks over the next few days.

Marvel is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
