ABC/Kevin Mazur(NEW YORK) — Jessica Alba may be a billion-dollar business mogul, but when it comes to celebrating her birthday, the simpler the better.
The actress and Honest Company founder celebrated her 34th birthday on Tuesday with a homemade breakfast of waffles and coffee from her husband Cash Warren. That was followed by handmade birthday cards and hand-painted T-shirts from daughters Honor and Haven Warren.
“That’s my favorite thing,” she told E! News recently. “I love when they make me stuff.”
Not everything was handmade, however. Warren also spoiled Alba with a special Anita Ko rose gold ring shaped like a panther.
“Waffles, Coffee and rose gold Panther @anitakojewelry – best Bday bfast ever!” Alba wrote on Instagram, thanking her husband and including the hashtag “spoiled rotten,” alongside a photo of her birthday gifts.
Alba recently told More magazine that she’s reached a place of contentment in her life.
“Content is good because I wasn’t always,” she said. “I was kind of unsatisfied and angsty. It’s nice shedding the angst.”
Instead, Alba is on her way to creating an iconic brand like Apple and Nike. Her Honest Company of eco-friendly, non-toxic products expanded into Target stores a year ago and is valued at a billion dollars.
“Being an actress is like a vacation; business is relentless,” she told More. “People work hard here. It’s nice to be around people who are so committed.”
Alba also expects a lot from her employees.
“Sometimes I’m a little more iron fist than velvet glove,” she admitted to More. “I’m straight to the point. I’ve made people cry. I have to say, ‘This isn’t personal. This is what needs to get done, and it’s just as simple as that. And…we’re not crying anymore.’ I’m learning to tone myself down.”
Like any working mom, Alba also questions her time away from her children.
“You don’t really know how [your career] is affecting [your kids] until they’re adults and they say, ‘You ruined my life, Mom!’ Maybe they want me to be a stay-at-home mother who bakes chocolate-chip muffins all day,” she told More. “Nah. I’d probably want to start a chocolate-chip-muffin company. Ya know?”
