Zoe Saldana Reveals Personal Struggle After Having Twins

ABC/Rick Rowell(LOS ANGELES) — Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldana is being hailed as a new kind of superhero for moms everywhere after calling becoming a mother to twin boys a “very challenging experience.”

Saldana, 36, posted a photo of herself on a treadmill on Facebook Friday, accompanied by a candid tell-all of her hardships after gaining 70 pounds of baby weight.

“As you all know, we welcomed twin boys last November,” Saldana wrote of herself and her husband, Marco Perego. “Yes, by far, the most amazing experience of my life, but also a very challenging experience when it pertains to my body. I’m sure moms across the world (and dads sometimes) can identify with what I’m about to say.”

Saldana went on to say that “everything from my thyroid to my platelets crashed” after giving birth to her sons, Cy and Bowie. The Avatar star called the journey “REAL.”

“Bouncing back feels impossible, but I know it is important as a woman, and now a mommy, to not give up. I am determined to get my energy back and find balance for my body before these little guys start walking, and before I go back to work…..my clock is ticking!,” she wrote.

“I’m not gonna lie- it is slow…. painful… and frustrating. But it is worth it,” Zaldana added. “I know many of you have gone through this or are going through it as we speak. Let’s do it together. Let’s talk about it, hear each other out, and seek advice when we need it.”

Zaldana revealed she has been working with a trainer, Steve Moyer, since January. The actress says she started at 160 pounds after reaching a peak of 185 pounds during her pregnancy.

Moyer told ABC News he has been working on exercises like squats and other “basic body weight exercises” with the actress, including one move for her abs.

“Another exercise I like to do and I like to have Zoe do is a plank,” Moyer said. “Because it works the core.”

Saldana’s Facebook post now has over 25,000 likes.

“Thank you so much. I thought something was wrong with me my twins are 2 years old and I’m still trying to get back in shape and get my energy. I’m always tired and sleepy. It’s like I was reading my own story,” wrote one commenter.

“Thank you for inviting us to join you on this journey! I am looking forward to having the support,” wrote another.
